Google Services – Need to have moral responsibility???
Google is a brand name and has very high reputation all over the world. Very high percentage of surfers use Google for web search and almost every website publishers try to earn revenue from Google AdSense. Many website publishers opt for Google AdWord for their site promotion. How Google has reach to this position? Their hard-work and support from the mass for the good work they been doing.Support indirectly increases expectation on your performance and one always need to be innovative to perform better in this competitive environment.
Recently I got a very interesting feed back from one of my website visitor. He complained about a program which I promote. I went back to my research work and found the site having PR 5. I checked the said link on Google search engine and very surprisingly found links on the first page itself stating the program to be a scam. What is my moral responsibility now? I am not a brand name but I still need to check back with the promoter of the program and try to find out the reason of someone stating this as a scam. This what I would do and if found the answer satisfactory, would revert back to the person who complained. If the feed back I get is not satisfactory, I would withdraw promoting the program on my site. This is what I think is my moral responsibility.
Google has comprehensive policy regarding ranking of websites. You can not buy a page rank for sure. They have their own algorithem and conservative policies. After all these hurdles, when a website gets a PR 5, will you believe it as a scam? But, someone still pointed out a finger with valid reasons and I believe, Google need to have inspected and get clarification from the promoter regarding the complain or else remove the site from Google Index till the complain is resolved. Google need to have system of collecting all informations of ranked websites for it’s own reputation.That way, Google can fool-proof the ranking system itself. I can shrug off my responsibilty as it wont matter to me much but Google has a brand to protect and by doing what I am going to do Google could have taken it’s services to another level. If people depend on you so much, your responsibility increases a lot.
The same problem exits with Google Adense and Google AdWord. They expose all the advertisements they get paid for. Thats fine, you doing a business and doing it great. But, what about the scam sites you taking to people. The program I have mentioned was once no1 sponsored link in Google for the keyword “home based business”. ” Ads by Google ” means a lot to devoted Google fans and if they by chance land up to some scam sites where does Google”s reputation stands then?
I believe, it is very very difficult task to check each and every sites before they get published. But then, you are a Brand name, you have to innovate ideas and get these difficult jobs done.
The bottom line is, yes, Google sure doing a great job but there are some holes still remained unplugged.
